Krone Trailers reports success with load securing system02 August 2012

Krone Trailers has revealed that its multi-safe load securing system is receiving approval across the UK and European transport industry. Operators wishing to comply with the latest load restraint regulations have opted for Krone's system and are reporting impressive results, including much improved safety and loading flexibility.

Regulation 100 of the construction and use regulations, 1986, states: "All loads must be physically secured other than by their own weight." It goes on to say that if a truck goes over, the load must remain in place.

The calculation for load securing is based upon DIN EN 12195-1 and guideline VDI 2700. Krone's multi-safe system satisfies the criteria of both this and the EU code: EN 12642 XL, which details the safety and technical parameters required for securing a load. Furthermore, EN codes for load security equipment must be obtained if operators are to deliver into European destinations.

With these regulatory and commercial issues in mind, Krone introduced a unique yet simple to handle system which would minimise loss or damage through accidents while at the same time enabling operators to handle a wider variety of loads and thereby increase profitability.

The multi safe system enables operators to carry mixed loads in the same vehicle or trailer, thus negating the requirement for additional investment in equipment to suit each business opportunity. One trailer fits all and empty running is greatly reduced, as experienced by David Kay of K Transport Services.

"The unique anchorage system is so flexible, we can carry all types of mixed steel loads, ensure a diverse and efficient service for our customer and make empty return loads a thing of the past," he says.

Bill Bowker, managing director at Bowker Transport is another satisfied customer. "The Krone multi lock side rave load securing system is probably the most flexible and safest we have seen."
