MAN Euro 6 TGLs are clear winners for Astraseal29 November 2016

Wellingborough-based window manufacturer Astraseal has taken delivery of three new MAN TGL dropwell box vans, citing reliability and fuel economy as key reasons for its decision.

The vehicles are all TGL 8.180 4x2 BL models, with C day cabs and powered by 4.6-litre, four-cylinder Euro 6 engines. These deliver 180bhp at 2,300 rpm and drive through six-speed Tipmatic transmissions.

Astraseal’s 70-strong fleet is mostly vans, but it has four MAN trucks for deliveries to fitters on larger contracts. “Of the three new trucks, two are replacements for old vehicles, while the third is an investment in expansion of our fleet,” says Mark McMullan, Astraseal Group managing director (pictured, right, with MAN’s MD Simon Elliott).

“The vehicles we had before were all Euro 5 and we have seen that the new Euro6 version will deliver on economy,” says McMullan. “That, and our experience of our MANs always being reliable, is what helped shape our decision to invest in the brand again.”
