Mercedes-Benz expands truck range with Antros 11 May 2012

Mercedes-Benz has a new member in its truck range, the Antos, designed for heavy-duty, short-radius distribution transport – a first from a major manufacturer for this specific duty.

The German automotive giant says its new truck promises both transport operators and drivers "the benefits of easy and well thought-out handling, as well as outstanding efficiency".

Its 2.3m-wide cabs, for example, are available in either short or medium-size versions. Both offer a convincing combination of easy access, optimised ergonomics and intuitive controls.

Power comes from Mercedes-Benz latest Euro 6 range (no Euro 5 option) of engines, launched in March this year. And with a total of 13 power categories, the Mercedes-Benz Antos covers a broad spectrum of engine power – all the way from 238bhp to 510bhp.

The new vehicles are also available as either platform trucks or tractor units, with a range of 67 wheelbase lengths, varying from 2,650mm at one end of the scale to 6,700mm at the other.

The official launch of the Antros will take place at the Hannover Commercial Vehicle show in September 2012.
