Montracon gives trailer type approval update15 July 2011

Montracon says it is "well on track" to achieving compliance with WVTA (whole vehicle type approval) across all trailer models and variants in its range.

The company's curtainsider with BPW running gear is already certificated, with other models and variants in the accreditation pipeline to achieve compliance, via the UK's Vehicle Certification Agency, prior to the implementation date of October 2012.

In addition, Montracon curtainsiders and vans fitted with either flush or barn doors at the rear have been approved by the German TÜV Nord certification agency to body strength standard EN12642XL, for cargoes of up to 29tonnes.

Accredited models are now available as options and are badged fore and aft, accordingly. Operators will also receive a certificate of accreditation for each, according to Montracon.

Though not a legislative requirement, EN12642XL denotes a minimum standard for body strength/load containment. Originally called for by UK operators running trailers in Germany and across Europe, Montracon says there is now emerging interest in such trailers for domestic operations.
