Panther now on the prowl for Battersby Silver Grey10 May 2011

A Plaxton Panther has joined operations at Morecambe's Battersby Silver Grey. The news coach, which is based on a Volvo B9R chassis, will be used for Leger Travel's Silver Service holiday tours.

"We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with both Plaxton and Volvo, and this Panther is the ideal vehicle for high-quality touring holidays." says Battersby Silver Grey director Tony Harrison

A key benefit of the 12.8m B9R Panther is the ability to provide a high specification on a two-axle coach, thanks to its low weight. Running on two axles also brings benefits in terms of capital and running costs, and in maximising luggage capacity.

The B9R is powered by a rear-mounted 380bhp 9.4-litre Volvo D9B engine which drives through the popular I-Shift 12-speed automated transmission.

Battersby Silver Grey's Plaxton fleet includes Cheetahs Paragons and original-style Panthers. The company, founded over 60 years ago, operates 30 coaches from a modern purpose-built depot in Morecambe.
