Plaxton offers Euro VI retrofit solution for B9R21 January 2019

Coach dealer Plaxton, part of Alexander Dennis (ADL), is offering a retrofit solution to bring Volvo B9R coaches from Euro V to Euro VI standards.

Following trials with exhaust after-treatment system maker Eminox, Plaxton can now convert an Elite coach on the B9R chassis to Euro VI specification, thereby meeting the requirements of the forthcoming London ULEZ (ultra low emission zone) and other clean air zones around the UK.

“While this project has been specifically about a bespoke system for the ADL Plaxton Elite body, Eminox’s approved B9R system has been developed to upgrade other bodies such as the Leopard and Panther,” says Jamie MacIntosh, used vehicle sales manager at Plaxton and ADL (pictured, left, with James Thorpe, UK sales manager for Eminox).

ADL’s Martin Dunleavy, general manager of used bus and coach sales, described the trials as “an overwhelming success”, adding: “The outcome also represents a real boost for the second-hand coach market as many operators have been caught in a quandary about writing off perfectly good coaches or investing in full-price new models. Now they have a meaningful, cost-efficient option.”
