PTM International goes for Iveco’s Stralis tractor units 24 March 2011

Specialist haulier PTM International has taken delivery of its first Iveco Stralis tractor units from Hendy Van & Truck.

The high-specification Stralis 4x2 artic joins a 20-strong heavy truck fleet and will be used for temperature controlled distribution across the continent, regularly delivering to countries including Portugal, Greece and Sweden.

Power is provided by a 13-litre Cursor 13 engine, which is capable of producing up to 500bhp and 2,300Nm of torque between 1,000 and 1,525rpm. The engine is driven through a EuroTronic gearbox, offering the driver a choice between fully or semi-automated shifts.

The decision to select its first Iveco tractor unit was based on positive reports from other drivers and fleet owners, and the dealer managed to locate a vehicle from stock, which proved a perfect match with PTM's requirements.

The Stralis truck features the flagship Active Space Super cab, while other items of interest include long-range 700-litre and 400-litre diesel tanks, polished alloy wheels and an inline fuel filter heater to ensure the truck is well-equipped for winter trips to Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Russia.

Peter Mansky, managing director of PTM International, comments: "When you compare the specification of our Stralis against any of the existing vehicles in our mixed fleet, we're confident we've bought a very good truck."
