Rental firm builds up fleet with first Euro 6 DAF LF Construction20 January 2014

Rental company Leeds Commercial was handed the keys of the first Euro 6 DAF LF Construction truck to come off the Leyland Trucks production line at an event last week (16 January 2014).

The 18-tonne truck is one of 10 of the new range ordered by the Yorkshire-based company, along with 10 CF Construction trucks.

Leeds Commercial, which trades as LC Vehicle Hire, has more than 2,000 vehicles and the latest acquisitions will join its construction vehicle hire fleet. They will all be fitted with tipper bodies.

The LF Construction has a 6.7-litre PACCAR PX-7 engine, which is availlable with ratings between 220bhp and 310bhp. It is similar in appearance to the larger CF Construction, with its black grille, larger louvers and the distinctive bumper positioned higher to provide an approach angle of almost 25 degrees.

Ground clearance is 32cm and the LF has a 3mm plate under the bumper to protect the radiator when travelling on unpaved roads.

"We chose this model, along with the CF Construction, because it has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of the construction industry," comments Chris Miller, Leeds Commercial's managing director.
