Rojac chooses DAF for Northwich facility 25 January 2012

Cheshire-based specialist vehicle firm Rojac (UK) has recently taken delivery of its fifth DAF LF55 truck.

The company, which has operated since 2006, says it is putting the 300bhp skip loader into operation at an unnamed blue chip company.

"Our customer required a vehicle that could carry waste material across its Northwich sites in a safe and effective manner," says Phil Bourne, transport manager at Rojac.

And he adds: "Based on our previous experience with DAF products, the FA.LF55 was the obvious choice."

Bourne says the company looked at other manufacturers, but DAF came out on top. "The two things that set the vehicle apart are the steel front bumper and the high clearance around the front and the steps," he explains.

"We found that other manufacturers put too much plastic under the front for skip work. Strengthening our decision was the LF's excellent turning circle and lock, making it extremely manoeuvrable in the tight spaces of the yard."

While working at the Northwich factory, the truck is expected to transport a variety of heavy loads, assisted by the presence of two key options on the vehicle.

The truck has been fitted with a Hyva skip-loading system and the configuration features extendable arms that can lift a maximum payload of 7.5 tonnes at full length. The vehicle is also fitted with LED side and rear lights and a warning beacon, and carries a full ADR high-visibility kit.
