Route Logistics doubles initial order with MAN07 March 2017

Route Logistics has taken delivery of six MAN TGX tractors – its first MAN vehicles – doubling its planned order after positive experience with a demonstrator.

“Due to diversifying into different market sectors, the growth within the general haulage and tramping activities of our business leant towards the option for a greater specification vehicle and the MAN TGX 26.500XXL seemed the ideal fit,” explains Amanda Wells, financial director of the Rockingham-based operator.

“We initially agreed on taking three units, but positive results from the demonstrator soon led to us increasing the order to six.”

Plated at 44 tonnes gtw, the new additions are TGX 26.500 6x2/2 BLS, with XXL cabs. Powered by a six-cylinder, 12.4-litre engine driving through a Tipmatic 12-speed transmission, each TGX delivers 500bhp at 1,800 rpm.

Chris Robinson, Route’s transport operations director, describes the fuel performance as “impressive”, adding: “One driver managed a return of 11.77 mpg during their shift.

“The drivers were very impressed with the comfort of the ride, spacious interior and the general performance.”

The trucks are also equipped with Microlise telematics and forward-facing/nearside camera systems.
