Rygor welcomes new apprentices 06 September 2022

On 1 September, Mercedes-Benz dealer Rygor Commercials welcomed its 2022 apprentice cohort to a bespoke induction day held at its flagship Gloucester branch.

This year, Rygor onboarded 19 apprentices into the business (its highest number in one year - to date), and its newest team members will be working as parts advisor apprentices, customer service expert apprentices, HGV apprentice technicians and LCV technician apprentices, all the while supported by the experienced team at Rygor, many of whom started as apprentices themselves.

Since joining the business at the end of August, Rygor’s 2022 apprentices have been getting to know their team members at site level, completing courses via Rygor’s bespoke Learning Hub and enjoying an introduction to their role, and the business, by completing Rygor’s unique, structured onboarding process.

As Rygor’s apprentices are based across a range of sites, as far north as Nuneaton and Kidderminster and down to Chilcompton in Somerset, Rygor’s Apprentice Induction Day was a great chance to meet others. There was a mix of informative talks, team building exercises and a chance to take a good look around the truck workshop. Rygor service director Sean Joyce was on hand to answer questions, and share his personal experience of rising through the ranks from apprentice technician to senior leader.

He said: “At Rygor, we want to nurture talent from the ground up and we are passionate about training the best people, who will stay with us long-term. We have the most amazing team members, who keep our customers on the road with first-fix visits and exceptional customer service. We take care to instil Rygor’s values of being a rewarding, reliable, and respectful business from the very start. By keeping our core values at the very heart of our apprentice’s Rygor journey, we ensure we do the very best for them and for our customers.”

The business has developed a unique apprentice pathway, to complement the academy training Mercedes-Benz provides, so Rygor’s apprentices can enjoy regular contact with others learning in the programme through events such as an end-of-year visit to MB World, a special life skills course, awards and recognitions, and regular check-ins with their own dedicated mentors.

Rygor culture & communication executive Talitha Scott, who hosted the special induction day said: “As an employer, we want the very best for our people. Whether it’s through our wellness programme, reward and recognition schemes, or the ongoing progression and development opportunities we provide for our team members, we want Rygor to be a great place to work, where our team feels happy. We want our apprentices to enjoy learning and developing with Rygor, and we understand how important it is to them to feel part of something amazing, which is why we are committed to helping them realise their goals.”

In March next year, Rygor will open applications for its 2023/24 apprentice intake.
