Safety award for 2013 launched by EuroTra25 April 2013

EuroTra (The European Transport Training Association) has launched its Safety Award for 2013.

The annual award, sponsored by Volvo Truck, is open to individuals – including drivers – and organisations from across Europe and is aimed at recognising excellence in products or services that are designed to mprove road safety.

Entries will be judged by a panel that includes a representative from CIECA (International Commission for Driver Testing), Volvo Truck and James Tillyer from the Freight Transport Association's consultancy team, who is also president of EuroTra.

"The EuroTra Safety Award has been designed to recognise the great efforts made across Europe to reduce the risk of accidents in transport and logistics, while at the same time showcasing the techniques, practices and devices that can demonstrate higher levels of safety on Europe's roads," comments Tillyer.

"Our sponsor, Volvo Truck Corporation, has once again shown tremendous support, and with a €5000 prize on offer we hope to attract more applicants than ever before."

The Award will be managed by Benedikt Schimmelpfennig of DEKRA. Further information, including an application form, is available from him directly. Email benedikt.schimmelpfennig@dekra.com.

The closing date for entries is 27 September 2013.
