Simon Elliott is new MD at MAN Truck & Bus UK 07 August 2014

Simon Elliott has been appointed the new managing director of MAN Truck & Bus UK, taking over from Des Evans, who stood down due to ill health.

Elliott, who has served as managing director of Volkswagen Group Ireland for the last three years, will assume the post on 8 September 2014.

He is widely credited with taking the VW Group – which includes Volkswagen cars and commercial vehicles, Audi, Skoda and SEAT – to the number one selling brand in Ireland, with 25% of the light commercial vehicle market.

Volkswagen Ireland has also delivered record turnover for parts and accessories and become a benchmark for customer service, with the VW brand voted as the most reputable in Ireland in 2014.

Prior to this, Elliott was managing director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK and has also held senior roles with Daimler Chrysler and Toyota.

"I am looking forward immensely to the new challenge of heading up MAN Truck & Bus UK," states Elliott.

"I have no doubt the UK team at MAN Truck & Bus will be ... focused on growth and I look forward to working closely with them and the dealer network to achieve this and make a difference into the future."

"The imminent arrival of Simon Elliott is a huge boost for us all, particularly following the departure of Des Evans, who had led the business for so long," comments MAN UK chief financial officer Adrian Sargent.

"Simon's background and obvious enthusiasm will enable him to hit the ground running, and he will have the unwavering support of everyone at MAN Truck & Bus UK as we go about building the business together."
