Social Vend on a high with first IVECO Daily van18 January 2019

Brentford-based Social Vend has taken delivery of its first IVECO van, a 3.5-tonne Daily Hi-Matic, chosen after a trial for less than an hour.

The firm supplies interactive kiosks and smart vending machines, some of which are 2m high, so the vehicle’s load space was a key factor, as was manoeuvrability for deliveries in and around London.

The Daily Hi-Matic has a 13.4m3 load space, offering a maximum internal load height of 2.1m and built on a 3.52m wheelbase.

Dealer IVECO Retail, in Heathrow, provided a demonstrator for Social Vend’s CEO Andrew Theodore, who says: “IVECO was the only manufacturer that offered us the full package – a vehicle small enough to tackle tight, inner city streets but with the height to fit our tallest machines safely inside.

“While the majority of our deliveries are in London, we also have to make long trips throughout the UK and across Europe, so drive quality was important. The Hi-Matic gearbox is excellent and will ensure those long journeys are as comfortable as possible.”

Along with its eight-speed Hi-Matic automated transmission, the van is equipped with a 2.3-litre Euro 6 diesel engine delivering 134bhp and 350Nm of torque.

It also has a 600kg Dhollandia tail-lift and is supplied with a five-year IVECO Elements R&M package.
