The Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) president John Eastman is resigning after years of dedicated service.

Eastman (pictured) became a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) in 1973 after having been advised by his boss at that time.

He joined the IRTE professional sector council in 1985. During his reign, Eastman also played a role in taking Irtec and Workshop Accreditation from conception through to fruition. Irtec and Workshop Accreditation are known as the industry standard for heavy goods vehicle and public service vehicle technicians.

Eastman later became president of the SOE, the home of the IRTE sector, and has been involved with IRTE’s technical committee as well as being a trustee. Over these years, his presence has also shone through IRTE’s regional network as well as its industry peers.
