Sprinter vans are catch of the day for King Foods05 November 2014

Fish supplier King Foods has extended its 18-strong, Mercedes-Benz-only van fleet with two more Sprinters.

Supplied by Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles Aberdeen, the operator's latest additions are a 5-tonne Sprinter 513 CDI medium chassis and a 3.5-tonne 313 CDI panel van.

The 5-tonner has been fitted with an insulated and refrigerated box body, by Cold Consortium, of York.

It has three compartments, allowing the vehicle to carry frozen, chilled and ambient foods at the same time.

The 3.5 tonne panel van was also converted by the same bodybuilder.

Aberdeen-based King Foods says vehicle reliability is crucial for it to deliver fresh fish, as well as other fresh and frozen foods, to hotels and restaurants in some of the remotest areas.

"The first vans we bought were by Mercedes-Benz, because they had a reputation as the most dependable on the road. They've certainly lived up to that promise over the years," says King's distribution director Ricky King
