Substantial Renault Trucks order comes from Iceland15 February 2012

Frozen food retailer Iceland has taken delivery of 80 new trucks from Renault Trucks UK – building on its existing fleet, which started including Renault commercial vehicles back in 2009.

Nine more 18-tonne 270.18 Midlum rigids, with refrigeration bodies, went on the road in July last year, while 71 Premium 4x2 460.18 EEV (enhanced environmentally friendly vehicles) tractor units, with Privilege cabs, were delivered between October 2011 and January this year.

All the trucks were specified with Optidriver gearboxes, and the order takes Renault Trucks' share of Iceland's 300+ fleet to 40%.

"Our Premium tractor units are performing well and the customer service from Renault Trucks has been excellent, including the Optifuel Infomax fleet management downloads," comments Iceland's planning and contracts manager, David Rowlands.

"We chose to add further Renault trucks to the fleet based on a competitive package, the environmental benefits of the Premium's EEV engine and a track record of fuel efficiency," he adds.

The Premium tractive units will deliver to Iceland's 748 stores nationwide, operating out of its four nationwide depots.

Meanwhile, the Midlums are operating out of the company's Swindon and Enfield depots, with the trucks' manoeuvrability making them ideal for deliveries to local stores where access is restricted.
