TVL products get PPS accreditation 25 November 2022

TVL Security Design’s Police Preferred TVL products can now be recommended by police forces to both current and potential victims of van crime

TVL Security has achieved Secured by Design’s Police Preferred Specification (PPS) accreditation across several products following an auditing process by an unnamed independent third party.

Based in Brentwood, Essex, TVL Security manufactures, supplies and installs a range of vehicle security products for sole traders and larger businesses. Its products are also available factory-fitted onto Ford Pro vans.

The ArmourShell external lock and DeadLock Protect+ and HookLock Protect+ security keys, can now be recommended by police forces to both current and potential victims of van crime.

Luke Powell, commercial & IT director at TVL Security, says: “With this achievement, TVL Security now boasts the largest range of PPS-accredited products dedicated to the light commercial vehicle sector. The accreditation also reinforces our Innovation Team’s hard work in ensuring TVL Security offers an unrivalled product range that secures the livelihoods of many van drivers across the country.

“We are looking forward to working with Secured by Design as we continue to stay one step ahead of thieves and lead the way in vehicle security innovation.”

Secured by Design is owned by the UK Police Service and works to reduce crime by validating the effectiveness of relevant security products. Its PPS initiative allows companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.

To receive PPS accreditation, manufacturers must submit their product range for rigorous testing and auditing by a verified Certification Authority (CA). The CA then visits the applicant’s production facility to ensure the products tested are representative of those supplied to end users, while all submitted products must also pass the CA’s physical tests.

Finally, a small number of the applicant’s products are then re-tested throughout a 12-month period, to ensure that product quality remains consistent.

Lyn Poole, development officer at Secured by Design, adds: “Having seen its factory and R&D efforts first-hand, it’s clear that TVL Security is working tirelessly to offer vulnerable van and business owners a way to fight back against van crime and tool theft.”
