Uptons Transport Services Schmitz Cargobull The semi-trailer has been built on the manufacturer’s modular chassis

Birmingham-based Uptons Transport Services has replaced its semi-trailer with a S.CS Fixed Roof curtainsider from Schmitz Cargobull that will clock up 160,000km per annum.

The company will use the S.CS Fixed Roof curtainsider to deliver dry freight for businesses, such as The Range, across the UK.

The S.CS Fixed Roof – which is now being manufactured at Schmitz Cargobull’s Manchester factory and complies with DIN EN 12642 Code XL load security regulations – joins a fleet of 10 trailers supplied by a competitor, plus two DAF and two Renault tractor units.

The semi-trailer has been built on the manufacturer’s modular chassis, which is said to provide greater strength with well-distributed load and optimised weight. Its modular bolt-on, bolt-off design means the S.CS Fixed Roof is easy to repair if necessary. It also offers corrosion protection and is provided with a 10-year warranty against rust-through.

With two sliding posts and 18 buckles, the curtainsider allows loading and unloading. The steel wires incorporated into the curtain prevent intentional cutting, offering built-in anti-theft protection and added security.
