Volvo combines front suspension and steering system for driver comfort06 October 2015

Volvo Trucks has announced that its independent front suspension (IFS) can now be specified in combination with Volvo Dynamic Steering on the Volvo FH and Volvo FH16 models.

Currently available for left-hand drive vehicles only, the combination of IFS and Volvo Dynamic Steering promises a new level of feel and handling, notably for long-haul operations.

Kristin Signert, long haul segment manager for Volvo Trucks, describes it as “an entirely unique combination” which, he says, gives “perfect steering feel and driveability”.

Any steering wheel movements caused by vibrations from the road surface are considerably reduced with Volvo Dynamic Steering, says Volvo – the result is lighter and smoother steering for the driver.

“The fact that the driver can feel more relaxed and stay healthier means that this combination boosts productivity in the long run,” adds Signert.
