Volvo steers to success with quality award23 January 2014

Volvo Trucks has picked up a quality award for its Volvo Dynamic Steering (VDS) technology. The award was presented on Monday night (21 January) in Stockholm.

The Swedish Institute for Quality chose Volvo as the recipient of its Quality Innovation of the Year 2013 prize, which promotes high quality innovation.

VDS almost entirely eliminates vibration in the steering wheel, so the driver doesn't need to make constant adjustments. It also enables easy, precise reversing.

"Volvo Dynamic Steering is an excellent example of an invention developed to meet both commercial needs and user wishes," says Matti Kaulio, associate professor of industrial economics at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology.

VDS, he adds, offers better manoeuvrability and an improved working environment for the driver.
