VW unveils long wheelbase version of Euro 6 Caddy Maxi05 March 2015

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the long wheelbase version of its Caddy Maxi at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The passenger version, the Caddy Maxi Life, is 32cm longer than the standard wheelbase model and has a cargo volume of 530 litres, expanding to 3,700 litres if the seats are removed.

The panel van model has a payload of 1,005kg, including the driver.

New Euro 6 engines come in three TDI diesel versions, all 2-litre, delivering from 75 to 150bhp.

For the first time, the Caddy comes with the option of adaptive cruise control (ACC), which uses a sensor to monitor the distance and relative speed to vehicles in front.

Other features include Front Assist, a monitoring system, which includes City Emergency Braking – if the driver fails to see an obstacle when travelling at under 19mph, the brakes will be applied automatically.

Side and curtain airbags are provided for passengers in the Maxi Life, and options include a heated windscreen, reversing camera and Park Assist, an automated parking feature.

Both the Caddy and Caddy Maxi will be on sale in the UK later this year.
