Xylem selects TomTom fleet management technology 27 June 2013

Looking to improve its customer service and green credentials, Xylem Water Solutions UK has bought into TomTom fleet management technology.

The water technology company has now rolled out a system that includes tracking, navigation and vehicle diagnostics across its 192-strong commercial vehicle fleet.

TomTom's ecoPLUS fuel diagnostic device, which reads fuel consumption data directly from vehicles on the road, has also been adopted.

Paul Whiteside, Xylem Water Solutions' logistics manager, explains that fuel consumption information, along with data on speeding, harsh braking and steering, is fed back to drivers in real time through their navigation devices.

It is also fed back to managers via TomTom's Webfleet fleet management software.

"We are regularly measured against service level agreement KPIs by our customers and TomTom will help ensure we hit our agreed targets," states Whiteside.

"Our engineers will benefit from not only the safest, but also the quickest possible journeys to customers, while avoiding congestion with smart IQ Routes and HD Traffic navigation technology," he adds.

"Having achieved the CEMARS standard for managing carbon emissions, this investment marks another crucial sustainability development with clients increasingly scrutinizing our green credentials."
