Abacus Playground adds Longton Avia to its vehicles fleet 15 February 2013

Abacus Playground, which has been operating Avia trucks to transport its playground and sports surface systems for around nine years, has just taken delivery of a new Longton Avia D75.

Abacus contracts manager Tim Rodwell says he was delighted to hear of the re-emergence of the vehicles in the UK in the form of Longton Avia.

"There is nothing quite like it on the market" he says. "With the British built Cummins engine, they pull better than the alternatives and, despite these trucks being worked hard, they haven't let us down."

In fact, Rodwell says that in nine years of operating these vehicles from the firm's depots in Kent, Derby and Scotland, this fleet of 11 trucks has only ever required two clutch replacements.

"With cruise control, rear axle locking differential, electric heated mirrors, drivers air seat, blue tooth hands free radio all fitted as standard, plus excellent fuel economy, for the price, nobody makes lorries as good as these," insists Rodwell.
