Bulk haulier weighs in with five Volvo FM-450 tractors21 December 2017

Bulk haulier James Booth (Bolton) has taken delivery of five Volvo FM-450 6x2 tractors, citing the vehicle’s factory-fitted lightweight mid-lift axle as key to its decision.

Supplied by dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials, the operator’s new additions have Globetrotter cabs and 11-litre D11K engines rated at 444bhp, delivering maximum torque of 2150Nm between 1,000 and 1,400rpm. The truck’s hydraulic ‘wet kits’ were supplied and fitted by Thomas Hardie Vehicle Solutions, at Chorley.

The FM-450s are on Volvo Gold R&M contracts, with work being carried out at the dealer’s Trafford Park facility. Each truck is expected to cover 115,000km a year.

The latest arrivals mean that 19 of the haulier’s 21-strong fleet are now Volvo vehicles.
