Calling all bus and coach apprentices and technicians16 March 2022

Ambitious engineers in the bus and coach sector can now apply for entry to the IRTE Skills Challenge.

The progressive and inclusive engineering competition for apprentices and fully-qualified technicians welcomes entries from PSV operators eager to showcase the high standard of their engineers.

In early June participants will take part in the testing week, where they will compete against peers in their specialised field: mechanical, electrical or bodywork. There is also a special competition for technicians who are competent in both mechanical and electrical, and another for highly-skilled, experienced technicians.

Shining a light on industry best practice for ten years, the IRTE Skills Challenge is a great opportunity for apprentices and technicians to prove themselves and take a step forward in their careers.

SOE chief operating officer Daniel Moir said: “The Skills Challenge has a history of successfully helping raise the profile of the bus and coach sector. It is a fun competition for contestants who are rewarded for their participation with an exciting awards ceremony later in the year.”
