Charge electric trucks named official Formula E partner 25 April 2016

British based automotive technology newcomer Charge – already famous for promising electric trucks and buses up to 26 tonnes – has become the official electric truck partner for Formula E.

The agreement sees Charge set to supply electric trucks to all Formula E circuits in flagship cities worldwide.

The trucks will be used for the drivers’ parades and for logistics surrounding race cars on and off the tracks.

The first Charge truck to be unveiled at the Paris Formula E prix will be in partnership with DHL, which is the official logistics partner for Formula E.

“The truck and bus industry has stood still for many years,” states Charge CEO Denis Sverdlov, adding that the firm is “creating a highly efficient, affordable, environmentally superlative truck” set to transform emissions in cities around the world.

“This partnership allows us to work closely with leading logistics companies like DHL where we can showcase our technology and the opportunity for every logistics company to revolutionise their fleets,” asserts Sverdlov.

“We believe the balance of our cost efficiency, and unique hardware and software capabilities make our trucks unbeatable.”

Charge, he says, is also re-defining “the way trucks should be made” with fully integrated software that enables the hardware to be instantly upgraded “with every aspect of the vehicle connected”.

“We are thrilled to have Charge on board as our official electric truck partner” comments Alejandro Agag, CEO – Formula E.

“Our partnership makes sense on every level. They are an incredibly innovative company: the way they are approaching the electric truck and bus market with software that improves the hardware is very intelligent,” he continues.

“It means our entire series, from the cars to the trucks, is completely electric – and that’s a powerful message for change.”
