CV Show to feature ‘new live elements’24 March 2017

Next month’s Commercial Vehicle Show (25-27 April; NEC, Birmingham) will feature new live elements, including a dedicated seminar area where keynote speakers will discuss industry challenges and opportunities, along with technological developments.

“A calendar of these activities will be unveiled shortly,” says show director Rob Skelton. “We’ll also have interactive ‘Twitter Lounges’, where exhibitors and visitors can tweet their news, views and opinions live from the show itself.”

The 2017 event is bigger than ever, with more exhibition floorspace, and sees the return of major truck makers.

Many exhibitors will be launching new products and services. These include Toyota, which will be demonstrating its LCV line-up, revealing some “exciting” converter news, and unveiling its Proace Verso VIP passenger vehicle.

Apollo Tyres will make its first appearance at the CV Show, where it will introduce its range of European market truck tyres, as well as announcing its strategy for engaging with the commercial vehicle market as the brand makes its European debut.

The company is number one in India, with 25% of the market there, and says truck tyre sales represent almost half of its turnover. Apollo is building a truck tyre plant in Hungary specifically to service the UK and European markets.

Jimmy Beam will be launch the Jimmy Beam Down Light, which sees several lights fitted in line along the edge of vehicles or trailers. Previously, the system could only be fitted to the underside edge, but now comprises a side market with integrated downlight – to help protect vulnerable road users as well as giving the driver better visibility. The company will be taking pre-orders and has a special introductory offer.

A new solution, called ClockWatcher Elite, will be unveiled by Aquarius IT – described as the ‘big brother’ to the established ClockWatcher package, the new Elite version has a strong focus on integration, providing a seamless view of information, says the company.

ClockWatcher has been shown at the Commercial Vehicle Show for over 10 years, but this year sees its owners, Aquarius IT, exhibiting for the first time as a standalone brand - previously the software solutions have been sold through third party resellers.
