Dealer service measures up for CPL Transport27 June 2018

Abnormal loads transporter CPL Transport has taken delivery of two 44-tonne IVECO Stralis tractors, citing dealer service as key to the decision.

Supplied by Haynes Trucks, the Ashford-based operator’s new additions are 6x2 twin steer tractors with 503bhp Cursor 13 engines and Hi-Way cabs.

They are also equipped with specially designed 725-litre fuel tanks, fitted by SB Components.

CPL acquired its first Stralis six years ago, in which time the truck has covered more than 600,000 miles. “As well as it being an excellent vehicle, a lot of that longevity must go down to the team at Haynes Trucks,” says Colin Lumsden, owner of CPL Transport.

“The aftersales care they provide is fantastic, from the six-weekly checks to all other inspections and servicing. Nothing’s ever too much trouble; that’s why we went back to them when it came to add to our fleet.”

The new additions will be covering long distances across Europe, and the Hi-Way cab specification gives the driver a 80cm x 200cm bed, 30 drawers and storage compartments, and a 50-litre fridge as standard. They have also been fitted with a built-in TV and microwave oven.

Lumsden adds: “The vehicles can be home to our drivers for anything up to three weeks at a time... These cabs carry almost everything they could need and the feedback we’ve got from the guys is excellent.”
