The specialist box body on the Welsh removal company’s latest addition was built by Unique Van Bodies, of Warrington, and supplied by Stoke-on-Trent-based Iveco dealer Sherwood Truck & Van.
The body was built with large canopy side-loader doors that lock open, while the cab was fitted with a top-mounted twin-bunk sleeper pod.
The chassis cab was specified with rear air suspension, not only to assist with loading and unloading, but also to allows raising of the suspension on hills and driveways that might otherwise cause the body’s long overhang to ground.
Power comes from the 4.5 litre 210bhp Tector engine, delivering 750 Nm of torque, and with Iveco’s high-efficiency SCR (selective catalytic reduction) after-treatment package.
“The Eurocargo is the only medium truck on the market that can be specified with a passenger bench seat in the cab, together with a flat floor – and in our line of work, that’s a vital convenience,” comments company owner Alistair Deane.
“This means the Eurocargo can carry more crew, and they can enter and exit the cab directly onto the pavement,” he continues.
“Plus, in the tight streets and alleyways we frequently find ourselves working in, having full access to the cab from either side can be a big help.”
Deane says his organisation “more than got our money’s worth” from the previous Eurocargo, noting that the truck had travelled the equivalent of more than 12 times around the planet.
“Our new Eurocargo handles extremely well, and we’re confident we’ll get the same sterling service as before,” continues Deane.
“My team is really looking forward to putting her to the test on some of our longer distance jobs.”
Deane’s new Eurocargo will be maintained by Parry’s Commercials, an Iveco authorised repairer four miles from its Llandudno Junction headquarters.
