Environcom wastes no time returning to Ryder for fleet additions16 November 2017

Recyling business Environcom has taken delivery of its first Montracon tipper and BMI moving floor trailer, supplied by Ryder.

As part of the fleet expansion, Ryder also supplied the electrical equipment reuse and recycling firm with a DAF CF460 6x2 tractor with AS Tronic transmission, Space Cab and dual-control PTO. The trailer is also fitted with a PTO so that it can pulled by a standard tractor.

“We previously used third party hauliers to handle bulk recycled material, but recently decided to take care of this work ourselves,” explains Carl Sylvester, general manager of Environcom’s Grantham facility.

“After gaining a unique and environmentally friendly way to dispose of polyurethane that would normally be landfilled, we needed to ensure this product arrived at our customer’s premises totally free of any contamination. These new trailers give us total control of delivering our own product, at a much better price point and achieving our target 95% utilisation, too.”

The operator is the only UK recycling firm to have received consecutive British Safety Council awards so safety features were unsurprisingly a priority – and the new trailers feature electrically-operated sheeting. “We specified these for health and safety reasons: the driver doesn’t need to climb up to operate the sheets manually,” says Sylvester.

Ryder is responsible for the servicing and maintenance of these vehicles.
