Euro 6 Stralis Hi-Way saves 2.33 per cent fuel against Euro 5: TÜV 03 December 2013

Independent European technical certification centre TÜV is reporting that Iveco's Stralis Hi-Way Euro 6 tractor unit delivers a 2.33% fuel consumption reduction, compared to its Euro 5 counterpart.

Iveco suggests that key to the savings is its use of FPT Industrial's patented high-efficiency selective catalytic reduction system (HI-eSCR), without the weight and associated penalties of EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) alongside aerodynamics introduced with the Hi-Way cab.

TÜV's tests compared a new Stralis Hi-Way tractor unit, equipped with a 460bhp Euro 6 Cursor 11 engine, with a similar Stralis vehicle from the previous generation, again using a 460bhp engine, but in this case the Euro 5 Cursor 10. Both trucks were in full EcoStralis configuration.

"Today's achievement is another important demonstration of the continued work by Iveco to reduce fuel consumption," comments Lorenzo Sistino, Iveco brand president.

And he adds: "This commitment has already allowed the EcoStralis Euro 5 model to obtain TÜV certification with a reduction in fuel consumption of 7.32%, compared to a standard Stralis from the same generation."
