Fleet Assist takes on rip-off AdBlue merchants with £9.99 deal16 December 2016

Fleets leasing vans and company cars from customers of Fleet Assist – which covers some 790,000 vehicles – are now eligible for a special AdBlue tank top-up offer negotiated with Halfords Autocentres.

The deal, which has been designed for the latest Euro 6-engined generation of low emission diesel vehicles, has been constructed because of what Fleet Assist describes as a “wide discrepancy” in the price of AdBlue sold by franchise dealers, retail outlets and service stations.

Drivers of vans leased from contract hire companies that are customers of Fleet Assist can now obtain a top-up of up to 10 litres of AdBlue for £9.99 including VAT from Halfords – a £10 discount on the retail price.

“Almost every contract hire and leasing company treats AdBlue as a consumable, so the cost is excluded from fleet maintenance agreements,” explains Mark Davies, network development manager for Fleet Assist.

“We have uncovered examples of drivers being charged almost £200 by franchise dealers for a top-up inclusive of labour charges.”
