FTA and Gist launch new engineer apprenticeship scheme01 September 2015

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) is partnering with supply chain business Gist on a new apprenticeship scheme for engineers.

Successful applicants for the four-year FTA Gist Engineer Apprenticeship will be based at one of Gist's depots in Barnsley, Thatcham or Spalding, where they will be trained in all aspects of engineering, including spending time on-site with the FTA engineering team.

In the third year, apprentices will also work with engineers from the FTA's Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).

Sam de Beaux, Gist engineering director, says: "Gist is delighted to assist the FTA with the development of apprentice recruitment and training, as we believe it is vital for the support of FTA and the wider distribution industry."
