GreenRoad helps Kerry Foods cut fuel consumption and crashes02 August 2012

In a bid to boost driver performance and safety management, Kerry Foods Direct to Store (KFDTS) is using GreenRoad on its nationwide fleet of 3.5 tonne temperature-controlled vans.

GreenRoad is being deployed across its fleet of 330 vehicles driven by 450 drivers across 26 sales centres, and it is hoped that deployment of the management technology will make the operator's fleet safer and more fuel economical.

The deployment follows a trial at KFDTS' Shepton Mallet depot, which started in September 2011. That trial has seen crashes being cut to zero, helping to reduce vehicle repair costs. At the same time, Kerry Foods cut its fuel bill by 9% as all 16 drivers became safer, greener drivers.

GreenRoad provides instant feedback on driving performance on the dashboard using a red-amber-green LED display. Through its online portal, GreenRoad provides drivers and fleet managers with real-time, comprehensive feedback, online reporting, analysis and coaching on their abilities, manoeuvres and patterns.

"We chose GreenRoad because it offers the latest in technology innovation as well as engaging with the driver and providing constant coaching in the cab," says Andrew Redstone, operations director, Kerry Foods Direct to Store. "Our drivers serve as sales representatives and they have a wealth of sector and product knowledge. Given the responsibility they have representing the KFDTS brand, we believe it is appropriate that GreenRoad also gives the drivers responsibility for their driving performance."
