Cheshire-based Kinaxia Logistics has received 205 new curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers as part of an investment of more than £6 million this year.

They are being deployed across the group as part of Kinaxia’s move to standardise its curtainside trailer fleet. The new, high-specification postless trailers are designed for a 44-tonne operation and stand 4.5 metres tall.

Each is equipped with several safety features, including the Axscend TrailerMaster tracking system, which reports on the status and location of a trailer and alerts the user to any brake or tyre issues. It is expected to reduce the downtime of a vehicle, boost security and efficiency and ensure compliance.

Tiger Trailers has also installed the Axscend electronic brake performance monitoring system in each new Kinaxia curtainsider. The system provides live remote monitoring of a trailer’s braking performance.

Another feature is the Maple Fleet Services SafeConnect system, which is a safety device that is said to ensure a trailer’s brakes are applied and not inadvertently released during the coupling process. This protects the driver until they safely return to the cab and are in full control of the vehicle.

James Hathaway, Kinaxia’s group fleet manager, said: “We are upgrading and standardising our equipment across the group to meet the needs of our customers. These new high-spec Tiger trailers ensure maximum safety, compliance and efficiency and have been very well-received by our team and our clients.”

Steve Pollock, business development director at Tiger Trailers, said: “Our sales, design and engineering teams worked closely with Kinaxia and other suppliers to ensure the new curtainsiders were manufactured with the customer’s bespoke specifications and features.”
