MAN to carry out checks on D26 engines15 April 2015

MAN Truck & Bus UK says it is writing to all customers this week who have a Euro 5 truck with D26 engine, so that a maintenance check can be carried out on the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.

Operators will be asked to book their vehicles in for the check, which MAN describes as a "precautionary measure".

The move follows some problems last year with D26 engines, all of which were repaired or replaced free of charge.

"While we have no reason to believe that any of these vehicles are affected by an EGR cooler or high-pressure intercooler issue, our decision to ask all Euro 5 EGR owners to book their vehicles into our workshops demonstrates our commitment to minimising potential business downtime," says a MAN spokesperson.
