Masternaut updates software ahead of HGV speed limit changes 06 April 2015

Fleet telematics giant Masternaut has updated its software to reflect the upcoming changes in HGV speed limits, which goes live today (Monday 6 April 2015).

From today, the speed limit for HGVs travelling on single and dual carriageways in England and Wales has been increased, although limits in Scotland and Europe remain unchanged.

The national speed limits for HGVs of more than 7.5 tonnes, travelling on a single carriageway have increased from 40mph to 50mph, while those travelling on dual carriageways have risen from 50mph to 60mph.

These changes to speed limits have been reflected in Masternaut software from today so that, as Steve Towe, chief commercial officer and UK managing director, puts it, Masternaut continues to provide customers with 100% accurate fleet data.

"The introduction of new HGV speed limits will no doubt help improve our roads and create a much more modern transport network, which is in keeping with improved vehicle technology and other large vehicles on UK roads," states Towe.

"Masternaut is committed to providing our customers with 100% accurate data and with these changes being implemented both on the road and in our solutions, is a record we will continue to keep."
