Supplied through dealer Mertrux, the Loughborough-based operator’s new additions are all Actros 2545LS trucks.
They were specified with aerodynamic, flat-floored StreamSpace cabs and Mercedes 450bhp engines, driving through PowerShift 3 AMTs (automated manual transmissions).
“To be successful in the rental sector you have to offer the vehicles that operators want to run,” quips Joe Ablitt, Marcol’s contract services manager.
“We also have some 13-plate Actros trucks that have proved extremely popular. Our customers tell us they are extremely fuel-efficient and great to drive, while they look really smart, too.”
Ablitt says half of the new Actros trucks went out on long-term hire as soon as they arrived.
Most of Marcol’s fleet is in the 7.5 to 44-tonne truck range, although it also offers vans and cars.
