Montracon takes best of the rest for new ‘universal’ carrier 18 September 2015

Montracon has launched what it describes as a universal trailer, which it says combines the best features of its step frame plant carrier and its machinery carrier.

The high-spec, tri-axle trailer is plated for operation at 44 tonnes gcw and is designed to handle a range of diverse loads, including plant, machinery and bagged or palletised goods.

The 13m-long trailer includes a 1.3m beavertail.

Features include the use of air suspension to raise or lower the trailer; a pair of 2.5m ramps, rated at 10 tonnes, which can be used either at the rear or to bridge the trailer neck; 11 pairs of deck lashing rings, two pairs of ferry lashings and two pairs of twistlocks for a 20ft container.

The trailer also has stowage for tarpaulins, two toolboxes, a 35mm hardwood floor, and LED rear light clusters.
