MPs hear first-hand experience of Driver First Assist 12 March 2015

Clugston Distribution’s head of logistics has delivered a presentation to a group of MPs at the House of Commons on the company’s use of the Driver First Assist (DFA) scheme.

David Heath explained how DFA gives professional drivers the basic life-saving tools needed to help if they are first on scene at a road traffic accident.

More than 30 of Clugston's drivers have already undertaken the training, Heath told the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Freight Transport.

A not-for-profit organisation, DFA gives drivers the essential skills required to accurately assess a road traffic accident and to alert the emergency services correctly ahead of their arrival.

It is thought that up to 46% of fatalities could be prevented if the correct first aid assistance is available in the first few moments.
