New online incident reporting facility for bus and coach operators28 October 2019

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has simplified its online facility for bus and coach operators to report serious collisions or incidents.

The Public Passenger Vehicle Act 1981 requires operators to report any failure or damage involving public service vehicles (PSVs) which affect the safety of the occupants or other road users – the report should be filed using the PSV112 form (see link below).

DVSA is also warning operators that failure to report any such incidents could lead to investigations and, in turn, referral to the traffic commissioners.

Operators are also reminded that this includes failure of any safety-critical components or history of the same component failing.

Dave Wood, DVSA enforcement policy manager, says: “Reporting bus and coach incidents is not just a legal obligation, it’s important so we can pick up potential faults in vehicles and protect the public.

“This new online form will make it quicker and simpler to do your bit for road safety.”
