Sawyers Transport sees savings from Michelin Solutions’ Effitires 03 November 2015

Sawyers Transport has signed up for Michelin Solutions’ Effitires PPK (price-per-kilometre) tyre management system to cover its mixed fleet of 300 refrigerated and curtainsided trailers and 250 tractors – a mix of MAN, Renault, Scania and Volvo.

The Northern Ireland-based chilled goods specialist says it expects Effitires to streamline tyre administration and management, and hence also to assist with delivering excellent customer service.

George Lee, operations director at Sawyers Transport, explains that the Effitires programme replaces a mixed tyre policy through a local service provider.

“The sheer amount of time saved by Michelin solutions handling our tyre management processes is priceless for the future growth of the business,” comments Lee.

“With tyre fitting and husbandry being managed elsewhere, we can get back to what we do best – ensuring our customers’ cargos arrive on time, every time,” he continues.

“The agreement means we will be getting the best from every Michelin casing, in terms of durability, longevity and safety.”

Sawyers Transport’ fleet managers will also be able to access analysis of the tyre budget, mileage statistics, etc, with regular tyre inspection reports streamlining the company’s day-to-day operations.

Signing up to the Effitires also provides Sawyers Transport with the services of a dedicated team of auditors, fleet operators and business support personnel, to ensure its tyres are serviced to the highest possible standards.

The haulier has chosen Michelin X MultiWay 3D XDE and XZE tyres – Michelin’s latest generation regional tyre series, claimed to offer a blend of fuel efficiency and mileage performance, plus an improved resistance to accidental shoulder damage.
