Scania secures new coach orders at Euro Bus Expo10 November 2014

Scania has announced a clutch of coach deals, signed at last week's Euro Bus Expo event (NEC, Birmingham).

Three of the deals were for the manufacturer's Irizar i6 vehicles. West Midlands operator Dunwood Travel ordered its third i6 this year (its first is pictured). The 53-seater, due for delivery in March 2015, is specified with Scania's 360bhp Euro 5 engine and automated Opticruise gear-selection system.

Dunwood's new vehicle will also feature air conditioning, a centre toilet, DVD with two monitors and three-point seat belts.

Wrexham-based operator Strafford's Coaches also ordered an i6 – its eighth Scania coach to enter service since 2005. Based on a 6x2*4 rear steer 12.9m chassis, and equipped with Scania's 400bhp Euro 5 engine and Opticruise system, the vehicle is fitted with 55 seats, plus driver and courier seats, three-point seat belts, DVD with three monitors, drinks machine, centre toilet and alloy wheels.

The third i6 order – for two vehicles – was placed by Paul S Wilson, of Loughborough. The 13m-long vehicles will both be equipped with 57 reclining seats with half-leather trim, seat-back tables, climate control air-conditioning, drinks machine, centre sunken toilet and Durabright alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, Pat's Coaches signed a deal for a Euro 6 Scania Touring coach, to be delivered next March.

Based on a Scania 6x2*4 rear-steer chassis, the 13.7m, 410bhp vehicle will be equipped to standard UK Scania Touring specification. This includes 57 Kiel seats, plus driver and courier seats, three-point seat belts, seat-back tables, magazine nets, drinks machine, DVD player with two monitors, centre toilet and alloy wheels.
