Special Volvo FH540 is Bradford Transport’s first new truck25 April 2016

A Volvo FH540 XL Globetrotter is Moira, Co. Armagh-based haulier Bradford Transport’s first ever new truck in 30 years of trading.

The truck was purchased as a birthday present for a long-serving employee Tommy McCrory, and is a one of a kind featuring a variety of bespoke livery designed by the Bradford family.

Bradford Transport owner Chris Bradford also specified the new truck with the 540bhp engine for heavy haulage and, unusually for a Volvo, the manual box.

He also went for a Kelsa Highway bar and Hella light bars as well as the Living++ pack, the highest cab fit-out available.

This package includes a rotating passenger seat, reclining bunk, bunk table, microwave and TV.

The truck is also plated at 60-tonne gtw and has a 3.2 metre wheelbase with a twin tyred tag axle.

The new FH was supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus dealer for Northern Ireland, Dennison Commercials, and all paintwork was carried out by Dennison Bodyshop.

As for that livery, it includes a sentimental tributes, including a breast cancer ribbon and a nod to the Dennison Commercials hospitality.

The graphics incorporate references to personal interests, such as lyrics from a country song and the quote “dream as big as you dare”, an association with the UFC star Conor McGregor.

A playful spin on the Volvo I-Shift logo also features, indicating that the vehicle is fitted with a manual gearbox, and the truck has a personalised plate – S40 CBT, for Chris Bradford Transport.
