Swiss filters for Arriva Italia fleet29 July 2011

Arriva Italia has begun the installation of the diesel particulate filters from Hug Engineering AG, a Swiss company involved in the filtration of industrial, naval and railway engines.

Arriva's fleet of buses in the Lombardy region will be upgraded in terms of emissions in order to meet the regional decree to make public transport vehicles more environmentally friendly.

The regional decree, with the key aim of reducing particulate emissions in built up areas of Lombardy, prescribes the adjustment of emissions (with the exception of nitrogen oxides) to Euro 5 for all scheduled service buses over 10 years old. In support of this decree, the Region has allocated €11.7million in order to contribute to 70% of the adaptation costs to the companies that run the service.
