Thermo King steps up connectivity with Trailer Assist24 May 2019

Thermo King has announced it is expanding its connected solutions offering with the launch of Trailer Assist, designed to give operators real-time visibility of the trailer condition.

Trailer Assist collects data from a trailer’s sensors and processes them in real time, offering alarms and event logs via email, SMS or apps.

The information can be accessed via a smartphone, using the TK Reefer App and TKNotify, or online via the Thermo King TracKing platform, giving operators all trailer and reefer data in one location.

“With connectivity and telematics capabilities built into the Thermo King units, we’ve been providing more than just a refrigerated unit. With the Trailer Assist solutions we are taking a step forward, expanding the connectivity capabilities beyond the unit to the actual assets transporting them,” says Raluca Radu, Thermo King’s product manager for the connected solutions portfolio.

The company says Trailer Assist will also enable fleets to boost uptime and asset utilisation through proactive maintenance, and optimise transport routes by analysing weight information via axle loads.

It will also prevent the wrong trailer being picked up, thanks to its ability to track individual VINs, and tyre pressure checks will help to extending tyre lifespan and optimise fuel consumption.

Thermo King adds that Trailer Assist data will be shared to preferred third party interfaces from July this year.
