Tiger earns its stripes with ‘UK-first’ trailer10 March 2017

Tiger Trailers has announced that it will be exhibiting the UK’s first 52-pallet, moving deck trailer at the forthcoming Commercial Vehicle Show (25-27 April; NEC, Birmingham).

A year in development, Tiger says its full-length, moving deck, straight frame wedge double-decker features a ‘basket’ with an internal width of 2,425mm, so allowing loading of two UK pallets side by side and creating the 52-pallet capacity.

Darren Holland, sales director, explains the design process: “We started with the initial concept, utilising our 3D Solidworks programming, then through to FEA (finite element analysis ) stress testing. We then built the first decks, which were subjected to actual physical destruction tests. The trailers feature a unique deck design that is lifted up and down by our proven 4-ram direct drive (patent applied for) system.”

To date, 40 of the trailers are in operation and, says Holland, they have been “extremely well received”.

The trailer will take centre stage on Tiger’s stand at the CV Show and a demonstrator is now available.
