Ratcliff Tailifts' former managing director Bob Nice has died at the age of 65. After leaving Ratcliff, Nice moved to Spain. He leaves his wife Linda, son Chris and daughter Jo.

New multi-modal transport association for Ireland, FTA Ireland, has appointed Declan McKeon as head of policy. A dangerous goods specialist with 20 years in logistics, McKeon previously oversaw warehouse logistics for Coca-Cola Concentrate.

Continental Tyre Group has a new sales manager for truck tyres. Duncan Platt has spent more than 24 years in tyres and was most recently with Bridgestone on European regional and national fleet accounts. Platt is now responsible for overseeing sales of Continental, ContiRe, Semperit, Uniroyal and Barum brands in the UK and Ireland.

Volvo Financial Services has made Feargal Quinn territory manager, Ireland. With banks and finance companies not always having the same appetite to support operators as in the past, Volvo says the appointment enables Volvo Financial Services to support customers.
Sir Moir Lockhead, 65, is to leave First Group after 21 years as its chief executive on 1 November. The FirstGroup Board will implement its succession plan, with Tim O'Toole succeeding. O'Toole was most recently managing director of London Underground.

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer Mudie-Bond has appointed a new van sales, Eddie Humphries, who won the Mercedes-Benz Van Sales Manager of the Year trophy in 2008.

Vehicle lifting equipment firm Somerstotalkare has appointed Mike Lord, CEO of Minivator, as its new chairman.
