Andrew Black cements deal with Renault after positive trial19 February 2016

Scottish operator Andrew Black Haulage and Storage has taken delivery of its first Renault vehicle, a 44-tonne Range T.

Supplied by dealer Renault Trucks Scotland, the North Berwick-based haulier’s new addition is a Range T520.26 6x2 mid-lift steer and was selected after a successful one-week trial.

It joins Andrew Black’s 25-strong mixed fleet and will deliver cement products to building sites and merchants in the East of England and across Scotland.

“We’ve not used Renault Trucks before, but I was looking for a replacement vehicle... We had a demonstrator in for a week which returned good fuel figures and the driver feedback was positive – the cab had all the equipment and gizmos, and we particularly liked the built-in sat nav system,” says director Andrew Black.

The additional lure of a one-year trial of Optifleet clinched the deal, he adds: “This online fleet management solution allows us to monitor the vehicle’s and driver’s performance, and helps us to manage our business in real time and reduce operating costs.”
